President Director of PT MRT Jakarta William Sabandar said that the company is currently trying to accelerate the building process of Phase II of South-North corridor.
“Our target is next year, October for Phase II we do begins construction,” he said.
William said Phase II of Jakarta MRT South-North Corridor will soon enter the “green book” (list of priority plans of foreign loans or grants) to then put into the “blue book” (list of medium-term loans or grants abroad) from the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas).
“The Phase I of HI Roundabout-Lebak Bulus is still under construction, and the new Phase II will be built in 2018 with the HI Roundabout-Kampung Bandan route, which will be included in the green book, for the blue book it’s in progress,” he said.
The government plans to build Jakarta MRT for two corridors, namely South-North that connects Jakarta and East-West along Cikarang (Bekasi)-Balaraja (Banten).
In the first phase of the South-North corridor, the length of Lebak Bulus-Hotel Indonesia Roundabout route is reaching 16 km which is targeted to be operational by March 2019 since it was built in 2013. The East-West Corridor will start construction in 2020, ahead of previously planned by 2022.
The acceleration of the MRT project is aimed at reducing the traffic congestion of the Capital City of Jakarta by providing a fast, safe and convenient mass transportation mode.
